    • Tapper Development
A long-term objective of the movement is to contribute to the socio-economic upliftment of the tapper communities. This should include the establishment of the tapper activity as a formal trade for which individuals will get formal recognition. This will increase their standing in the community, allow for preferential rates when trading their sap/lump, and work toward restoring a pride amongst the tappers, and the communities they live, for the trade. The cultivation of vibrant, sustainable tapper communities, where they can apply their trade of traditional commercial aloe tapping with pride and dignity is CRUCIAL to the success of the marketing message of The Cape Aloe Movement and the Cape Aloe Mark. This aspect of the aloe industry in the Western Cape is a VERY strong differentiator in the international market, so it is crucial that we develop it to is full potential.
